Giving Back

It is important for non profit community events to give back to the community that they support.

The Kawartha Lakes Winter Festival will be partnering with the BGC of Kawartha Lakes as our official charity of choice for this inaugural year.

The BGC Kawarthas was started by Ron Kennedy back in the mid 60’s to give children of the area an opportunity to grow and prosper in a supportive and caring environment.

Today the BGC is a growing and very successful organization that continues to help children of all ages reach their potential. Their motto “Opportunity Changes Everything” is great description of the work they do for children.

The Kawartha Lakes Winter Festival will be making a donation to the BGC as our community support.

Volunteers

Volunteers are the life blood of these community events.

We will need several volunteers to take up various positions leading up to and on event day.

Positions such as community signage, pre-event package pickup, race morning registration, course set up, lunch managers, awards and course marshals are open.

All volunteers will receive personalized training, t-shirt, lunch and a personal thank you from the race director.

Special unique prize to the best volunteer.

Please go to our online registration at Race Roster to register.

Our Community

The City of Kawartha Lakes is located just north of Peterborough Ontario Canada. The Trent-Severn Waterway runs through the city offering a great way to see the community by boat during the summers. It has a population of 75,000 permanent residents, which swells in the summer due to tourism and cottagers.

The people are friendly, warm and welcoming – embracing family values and country roots. Nestled amongst natural surroundings, the “Jewel” sparkles with geographical beauty, offering waterfalls, waterways, the gorge, and all that nature has to offer. One of the best ways to experience this beauty is to enjoy the 85-km Victoria Rail Trail that runs through the town, linking Kinmount to Lindsay.

Fenelon Falls is an inclusive and supportive community that addresses the social, recreational and spiritual needs of its residents, with a focus on healthy living and well-being. Residents of Fenelon Falls live, work and play in the community, while feeling safe and secure alongside their neighbour.
